Most of our products are delivered free of charge.

For Health & Safety reasons, there is no customer access to our site which is why we offer free delivery on most products.

However, given the weight of some of the de-icer products (salt etc), there is a delivery charge for smaller (or larger) quantities depending on the location. Unfortunately since the 25kg bags are quite heavy for a single item, we do charge for delivery when we have to despatch using a third-party carrier or haulier.

All delivery drivers including hauliers will be able to assist you in offloading your delivery within the bounds of their own contracts. It should be noted that offloading will be at a point which is no more than the driver can safely maneuver their vehicle. Once offloaded, they cannot stack bags, empty bags into bunkers, push deliveries into specific locations etc. They are offloaded to the truckside/kerbside as appropriate. 

It is not essential that you have a forklift for offloading as the delivery driver can use a tail-lift and pallet truck, however if you do not have a forklift, you must choose to have a pallet added to bulk bags so they can be moved using a pallet truck as these are normally lifted using the bag straps

Please do inform us, however, if you do not have a forklift for offloading 1 ton pallets, this will assist us in the delivery process. 

Delivery Time

Deliveries are either sent via haulier, courier or our own drivers. Delivery time is 3-5 working days but in normal times is likely to be at the shorter end of this. You should order early before the snow, ice or cold sets in. Once we have despatched goods they are in the hands of the delivery companies and the state of the roads, neither of which we have control over. Once goods are despatched they are considered delivered and we cannot accept responsibility for delays after despatch.

Failed Deliveries

If for any reason, your delivery is not able to be offloaded which is not the fault of the haulier or Belfast Salt Company, the delivery may need to be attempted at another time or the consignment may be returned to us. In either case there will be a charge which will include any charges levied by the haulier and in the event of the consignment returning to us, there will also be a restocking charge of 15%. 

Damaged Deliveries

Any goods delivered must be inspected at the time of receipt and marked and recorded as damaged if this is the case. We cannot accept liability for any goods delivered which have been signed for which later are reported as damaged.

Cancelling your order

Notwithstanding the Distance Selling Regulations which cover non-business consumers, cancelled orders will carry a restocking charge of 15%. You must inform us in writing of the cancellation. You are responsible for returning the goods.

Salt Spreaders

All pedestrian grit spreaders when delivered within N.Ireland, are supplied fully assembled and ready to go. We cannot despatch any fully assembled pedestrian spreaders via courier. Given our experience over the years, we cannot guarantee the same care and attention when we pass the product to a third party for delivery and these can become damaged in transit. As a result, pedestrian spreaders are all despatched to GB & IE locations boxed and ready to assemble with full instructions

The larger saltMASTER SM200 towable spreader does have the option of *full-assembly (*all but the draw bar which would extend over the edge of a pallet). The reason for this is that the assembly takes approx 5-6 hours for 2 people and we understand that this is something that an inexperienced person may find difficult. These assembled spreaders are supplied secured onto a pallet. The weight is approximately 100kg, so you will need a forklift or pallet truck to offload.

Bulk Bags

If you are ordering bulk bags, these can be offloaded by your own personnel using a forklift. If you do not have a forklift, you must choose to have the bag palletised as this can then be offloaded using a pallet truck and tail-lift. If you do not choose this option you will not be able to offload if you do not have a forklift and the consignment may have to be returned to us at your cost including a restocking charge.
