Salt is essential in all diets and is used as an additive to livestock feed to maintain the mineral balance on the animal.
Salt helps animals (and humans) to metabolise nutrients and maintain a healthy electrolyte balance, achieve optimum food conversion and improve general health.
A lack of salt in an animal's diet can lead to muscle cramps and reduced appetite.
While Salt licks can be provided for animals it may be more beneficial to add salt directly to their feed to provide the required 0.6-0.8% Sodium intake recommended in their diet.
Milling salt can also be used as a preservative in grass silage.

Bulk bags have handles for off-loading using a forklift. If you do not have access to a forklift, you must choose to have the bags palletised so they can be moved with a pallet truck. Bulk bagged salt is delivered by haulier who can only drop the pallet beside the furthest point of access by the truck. The haulier is not able to wheel the pallet on a pallet truck to other location. |
